Posted by Caldwell Trust

H. Lee Thacker, Jr., CFP, Senior Executive Vice President, Secretary, Trust Officer and very good friend of Caldwell Trust Company, is celebrating his twenty-year anniversary with us. He has been with the company since 1996, when he moved to Venice from Georgia. The long-time banker and his wife Suzanne—both with extensive financial backgrounds—were looking for a solid, reputable company to handle their investment needs. “We read an article about Roland Caldwell and the company he had founded,” Suzanne said of Kelly Caldwell’s father Roland, co-founder of Caldwell Trust Company. “They were right down the street so we met with Kelly.” Lee said, “I visited as a potential client and was so pleased that I signed on. Your Local Sarasota Trust Company

The Caldwell Trust Company Operations Department handles an array of backroom tasks, including stock/bond/mutual fund trading, cash management, asset management, paying client bills and handling account receivables…just to name a few.  Our operations department is extremely self sufficient, in that the majority of items are done through direct working relationships with our local banks, brokers and depository companies such as the Depository Trust Clearing Company (DTCC).  We have found that many companies outsource these operational tasks to big house clearing companies, which restricts the control on client assets by custodians.  We believe that by maintaining these direct working relationships, we are better able to serve our clients through Personal, Traditional and Independent means! Getting an unbiased opinion is always a good idea when it comes to things that really matter to you. Like your health. Or your finances. When your financial trustee has an unbiased external audit, you can be sure that their financial statements are accurate and they have a lower risk of fraud.

An external auditor works independently from a financial advisor and is an impartial accountant with no conflicts of interest. This unbiased, impartiality makes certain that companies are in compliance with tax laws and that their business records are complete.

Posted by Sheryl Vieira

Christopher N. Gray has served more than four years as a member of Caldwell’s board of directors and says he has enjoyed every moment of it. That’s been his style throughout his life, finding the joy in whatever he does—and what he has done has been colorful.

Calling Chris “versatile” would be an understatement. A hitch as an Army sergeant in Vietnam interrupted his schooling at Valencia Community College. Nevertheless, this preacher’s son worked his way to his degree, first as a liquor truck driver for two years and then, after the Army, as a banker. The young teller advanced to assistant vice president. He also became intrigued by Paula, another banker. They married in 1978.
