Tidewell Hospice has nominated Jan Miller, Caldwell executive vice president and trust officer, as its Outstanding Fundraising Volunteer according to Gerry Radford, President and CEO of Tidewell.
“Jan has been a devoted supporter of Tidewell Hospice for many years; not only through her personal charitable gifts, but through her extraordinary leadership as a member and former chairperson of our Board of Trustees,” Radford said. “She is a strong advocate for the importance of supportive and compassionate healthcare for those faced with a life-limiting illness and shares her passion with others to further the mission of Tidewell.”
The winner of the Outstanding Volunteer competition will be announced by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Southwest Florida Chapter, at its 29th annual National Philanthropy Day luncheon, set for November 18 at Michael’s on East.
Jan has volunteered her services to Tidewell since 2004 and is past chair of its board of trustees. A busy person who guards her time carefully, she chose Tidewell ten years ago and the ensuing decade has only deepened her commitment. “For years I have witnessed the comfort and compassion that Tidewell brings to families during one of the most difficult times they will ever face,” Jan said. “I have seen them help some of my clients to find peace, and in 2010 I experienced the value of their caring firsthand when my own family needed their services.
“When I saw what Tidewell does, I wanted to be part of it. When I personally experienced their help, I knew I had made the right decision,” Jan said. “I volunteer my time so that every family who needs them will have the benefit of Tidewell Hospice. It is very important to me.”
Besides Jan’s extensive volunteer service, Caldwell has other strong ties to Tidewell: Caldwell director Marge Maisto is a former president and CEO of Tidewell.
Tidewell has provided hospice care to the community since 1980. The not-for-profit organization serves residents in Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte and DeSoto Counties from 19 locations.
