Venice, FL – Lakewood Ranch-based Halfacre Construction Company has been selected to build the new corporate headquarters for Caldwell Trust Company, reports Jack Cox, president of Halfacre Construction. The Italianate-styled building plus its courtyard and two parking lots will occupy four acres on a ten-acre, wooded site at 1400 Center Road, Venice, he said.

The facility represents a landmark for Caldwell Trust Company. “Our Company has just completed its first 20 years and we’re getting ready for the next 20,” said R. G. “Kelly” Caldwell Jr., CEO and president of the independent trust company. “Our roots are growing even deeper in the community and Halfacre Construction is a trusted resource. We’re proud to be working with their team and employing local contractors to build our new state-of-the-art facility.” Upon completion, the new building will replace Caldwell’s offices at 201 Center Road, Venice. The office at 1561 Main Street, Sarasota, will continue to provide full client services.

“We are substantially expanding our space on both the trust side and the operations side, moving up from 6,500 to 11,500 square feet,” Kelly Caldwell said. “The new building will give us the room we need now and space for the foreseeable future.” Two 5,000-square foot wings will house specific functions, with the left side dedicated to operations, the right side to trust administration. Additionally, a special feature will be the 24- x 36-foot main conference room. The building will be constructed to withstand winds up to 180 miles per hour with concrete ceilings in the vault area, to ensure client records will remain intact in case of an emergency.

In addition to private offices, conference rooms and areas designed specifically to house Caldwell’s computers and proprietary software, the building will provide a library, print shop and workout room.

“We are proud to have been chosen for such an exceptional project,” Cox said. “It’s always a pleasure to work with local companies expanding in our area, creating jobs and providing valuable resources to our community.”

Jeff Matthews, AIA/AICP, and Mike Coviello, partners in Venice Design Group, designed the new multi-function building, which is pegged for a November 2014 completion.

As the area's oldest, most established, locally owned and operated private commercial construction company, Halfacre’s foundational strengths stand as evidence that its commercial and industrial construction projects will be delivered on time, within budget, with the utmost integrity and with the expertise and financial strength needed for success.

President Jack Cox serves as president of the Suncoast Charities for Children and is an appointed member of the Probable Cause Panel of the Construction Industry Licensing Board for the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

Halfacre Construction also offers its expertise as a green building provider with the resources available to build viable, effective alternatives to reduce energy consumption and preserve natural resources. Staff includes U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) certified professionals who have demonstrated proficiency in green building practices and who possess a thorough grasp of the LEED Green Building Rating System.
