Timothy J. Videnka, CFA, joined Caldwell Trust Company in late 2011 to fill a newly created position as vice president, investments. Now, after 19 months with Caldwell, he says of the job, “I’m never going to be done.”
That nagging feeling that you’re never going to finish your work keeps some people up at night. Not Tim. His enthusiasm is unflagging: “I wake up every morning and say, ‘Let me at it.’” Tim runs the investment side of the business with a team of Caldwell’s experienced staff. Together they try to make
predictions about the unpredictable stock market. “Last year everybody said that the stock market shouldn’t—couldn’t—go higher, but it had a fantastic year,” he says. The team watches the market and reviews analyses from internationally recognized research providers. Then they evaluate this information within the framework of their combined market savvy to arrive at the investment decisions that Caldwell implements for its clients. “We’re always striving to get better,”
Tim says. “We continually adapt to new ways of doing things, in the context of what our clients want. We start with their needs and work backward.” In addition to making investment recommendations and
communicating with his clients, Tim also collaborates in the creation of the investment letter that appears as the lead story in Caldwell’s newsletters.
Tim came to Florida from his native Canada for a four-year tennis scholarship at Rollins College in
Winter Park. He earned a B.A. with a major in economics and a minor in business administration, as well as an M.B.A. with a concentration in finance from the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins. He also won membership in Omicron Delta Epsilon (ODE), an international economics honors society.
Tim was captain of the 1998 and 1999 Rollins College Men’s Tennis Team as well as Men’s Tennis All Sunshine State Conference Selection for 1998 and 1999. Now he has brought his love for tennis to the Inaugural Tarpon Coast Dental Pro Tennis Classic, which featured world-ranked tennis professionals Jimmy Arias and Jan-Michael Gambil. Caldwell Trust Company was a title sponsor for the event, held at Plantation Golf & Country Club in Venice on March 17. Proceeds benefited Venice Nokomis United Methodist Child Care Center.
