VENICE, FL—Wendy L. Fishman, CTFA, has joined Caldwell Trust Company as vice president and trust officer according to R. G. "Kelly" Caldwell, Jr., president. “We have known Wendy and respected her work for many years,” Caldwell says. “We are very pleased to have her as part of our team.”
Fishman has been active in trust banking for nearly a quarter-century. In her most recent position, she was responsible for all aspects of fiduciary administration for over $18 billion in assets, serving clients from Manatee County to Naples. “Wendy is a tremendous asset,” Caldwell says. “Her special strengths are in tax regulations, especially for estate planning, and trust administration and operations—but her true expertise is in personal relationships with clients.
After a career spent in banks with assets in the billions and ownership in other states, Fishman says she wanted something smaller, more personal and locally owned. She views Caldwell Trust Company, with $400 million in assets, as ideal. “One of the truly exciting advantages of Caldwell Trust Company is being able to service my clients at the level they deserve,” she says. “We can make decisions here immediately, and we can do things ‘outside-the-box’ when that provides the best solution for a client. The large banks have to impose quite a lot of procedures just to oversee their hundreds of employees. We are much more flexible here.”
Fishman also praises Caldwell Trust Company for stability, citing its excellent investment record and loyal work force. “The company’s consistency with management and employees is key to delivering top-notch service,” she says.
Besides commitment to clients, Fishman and her employer share a passion for helping the communities they serve. Caldwell Trust Company has offices in Sarasota and Punta Gorda in addition to its Venice headquarters, and Fishman is an active volunteer in these areas. She has been an executive on the board of directors of the South County Family YMCA since 2001. In 2004, she co-chaired the Domestic Violence Study Group of SCOPE and has served on SCOPE’s board of directors since 2005. Among Fishman’s other volunteer activities, she was also a mentor for Take Stock in Children of Sarasota from 2003-2005.
Besides commitment to clients, Fishman holds a B.S. in business administration from Ohio Northern University. She completed the ABA National Trust School and graduated with honors from the ABA National Graduate Trust School at Northwestern University. In addition, in 1997 she earned the designation of Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA).
