VENICE, FL – Susan H. Hines, J.D., has joined Caldwell Trust Company as a vice president and trust officer, according to R. G. “Kelly” Caldwell, Jr., CEO and president. “We are extremely pleased that Susan has joined our family,” he says. “We have known her professionally and personally for many years and recognize her as a perfect fit for our company.” Hines concurs. “I was attracted to Caldwell because they’re independent,” she says, “and I have always been impressed with their warm, client-focused approach.”
Before joining Caldwell, Hines had been a vice president with Northern Trust’s Wealth Strategies Group since 1996. In 2005 she assumed the duties of managing executive for Northern Trust’s Venice office and became a member of its regional management team.
She received her B.S. degree in Business Administration, summa cum laude, from the University of Florida College of Business in 1987 and her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Florida College of Law in 1991. A member of the Florida and Sarasota County Bar Associations, she began her career as a practicing attorney with Sarasota-based Icard, Merrill, Cullis, Timm, Furen & Ginsburg, P.A., concentrating in the areas of estate planning, real estate and corporate law. She moved into banking in 1994 as a trust administrator with SunTrust in Venice.
Hines graduated with honors from the American Bankers Association’s National Trust School at Northwestern University and continued her postgraduate education through the Harvard Business School’s executive management mentoring courses. She holds Series 7 and Series 66 securities licenses. Further, she has been honored by membership in the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society, Beta Gamma Sigma National Business Honor Society and Mortar Board Collegiate Honor Society.
Selected for membership in Leadership Sarasota in 1994, Hines has been involved with many professional, civic and community organizations in this area. She currently serves on the boards of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota County and the Rotary Futures College Resource Board. She is a member of the Venice-Nokomis Rotary Club and the Venice Area Estate Planning Council. In addition, she is a classroom educator with Junior Achievement, a member of the Venice Elementary School PTO and a supporter of Venice High School and its athletic programs.
Susan lives in Nokomis with her husband, Charles D. Hines, Esq., a practicing attorney and Sarasota County Commissioner, and their three children.
