Students at Venice High School Meet Economist Stephen Moore

“Kelly” Caldwell Jr. always stays close to his Venice roots. The CEO and president of Caldwell Trust Company, Kelly is also a graduate of Venice High School, a proud Indian who likes to share the benefits of his success. The most recent instance of this philosophy recently occurred when the company brought world-class economist Stephen Moore to the school.  Moore presented a talk about the current economic situation and his outlook to 450 junior- and senior-year students, followed by a lively question-and-answer session. “I’m bullish on the economy,” he told the group. “Steve graciously made time on his schedule to meet with the students and I couldn’t have been more thrilled,” Kelly said. “Young people rarely have the opportunity to hear someone of his caliber. We’re delighted that we could bring Steve to them.”

Moore’s  talk  at  Venice  High  School  was  the  latest  example of  the  company’s  interest  in  educating  students  for  a  career in  finance,  or  at  least  helping  them  learn  about  economic aspects of the world they will soon enter. Among its other commitments to education, Caldwell has been a table sponsor since 2005 of Brunch on the Bay, the annual USF Sarasota- Manatee Brunch scholarship event. In addition, in 2011 the company established The Caldwell Trust Company Business Scholarship to help underwrite educational opportunities for students of the USF College of Business on the Sarasota Manatee campus.
